Venetian Model

“This is my favorite cello model.

It is a mellow, full-sounding instrument that possesses a great variety of colorful sounds. Its well-balanced tone and excellent response are impressive. From the voluminous C-string to the melodious A-string, this cello has everything one could ask for.

The model, arching, and sound holes are built according to the classical Italian inner system of proportions: for this cello model I have found inspiration in the Venice school, applying my many years of experience in restoring old cellos.

The varnish is an oil varnish we cook ourselves, using luminous madder pigments we have precipitated. I like the varnish on this cello to be slightly antiqued.”
